Decolonising Linguistics in the Anthropocene Era
Prof. Dr. Dany Adone is Professor and Chair of Applied Linguistics in the English Department at the University of Cologne and the executive Director of the Centre for Australian Studies. She is also an Adjunct Professor with the College of Indigenous Futures, Arts & Society at Charles Darwin University and Associate Professor at the University of Sydney.
She has worked with and within many Aboriginal communities in remote Australia, and in Honiara, Solomon Islands, and in Port Moresby Papua New Guinea. Her research projects focus on revitalising Indigenous Sign Languages in Arnhem Land and in the Kimberley. Recent publications include ‘Fire, Water and Land in Indigenous Australia’ (2019), 'Acquisition of Pronouns in Creole Languages' (2023), ‘Zukunftsgestaltungskompetenz im Angesicht der Katastrophe: Ecological Literacy als mehrdimesnionale Herausforderung’ (2023) and further articles on environmental matters and Decolonising Methodologies in Linguistics. She is the main editor of the Special Issue of the Australian Studies Journal of the German Society for Australian Studies ‘Indigenous Australia in the Anthropocene’ to be published in April 2024.
